Compassionate Dialogue

Daily sessions of compassionate dialogue allow the girls to:

  • Develop trust, compassion, and increased self-esteem
  • Release judgments and expand their points of view
  • Transform their relationships with the "other"
  • Acknowledge and release their fear, anger and pain
  • Break down old beliefs through deep listening and compassionate speaking
  • Develop communication and leadership skills
  • Understand the basics of conflict transformation and resolution
  • Strengthen Jewish and Arab coexistence upon returning to their communities

Making Art

Daily artmaking, including drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, pottery, mixed media, photography, and more, allows each girl to:

  • Find her creative voice
  • Develop both personal and interpersonal expression
  • Increase sensitivity and awareness
  • Investigate and heal emotional wounds
  • Visually document and express her ongoing shift in perspective
  • Experience increased self-esteem through individual and group work
  • Discover the value and joy of collaborative endeavors
  • Increase problem-solving skills

Ongoing Dialogue

Upon their return home, the girls' friendships deepen through regular meetings and emails.

They bring the power of their experience and fresh perspective into the lives of their families, friends, and communities, where it continues to expand, creating a sustainable dialogue where communication may not have existed before.

In addition to the girls' meetings, parents sometimes come together to speak of the positive change in their daughters, of the noticeable increase in their leadership skills, self-confidence, and academic performance, and greater happiness and peace of mind.

Young Leaders

Creativity for Peace's Young Leaders program involves former campers who wish to further develop their leadership and peacemaking skills. Thirty former campers participate in this program.

Each year a small number of young leaders are invited to serve as junior counselors for the summer peace camp in New Mexico. Ongoing training is offered in the Middle East and in the United States.

Scholarships

Creativity for Peace's scholarship program is an integral part of our mission to nurture the next generation of women leaders in the Middle East. We are currently supporting five young women who are attending school in Gaza, the West Bank, and Israel.

A limited number of scholarships are available to former Creativity for Peace campers. Applicants must demonstrate financial need, leadership ability, and active involvement with Creativity for Peace.
